Think About It

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philipp. 4:8)

Have you ever been hurt by someone so deeply that the only thing you could do was think about what they did and how angry you feel? Have you ever been so worried about a situation that you couldn’t focus on anything else? If you have ever let yourself get caught up in that endless loop, you probably didn’t realize that you can make a choice to think about something else. Don’t set yourself up for worry, anger and frustration when the Bible says you should think about things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report.

You may wonder where you can find anything good to “think about.” The answer is right there in front of you—God’s Word—the Bible. Think about how much God loves you (John 3:16). Think about His promises of prosperity and increase (Psalm 115:12). Think about the fact that God’s Word will endure forever (1 Pet. 1:25). Think about God’s promise that He will never fail you nor forsake you. (Deut. 31:6). Think about His faithfulness and mercy (Lam. 3:23) If you displace thoughts of worry, anger and frustration with thoughts about God, you’ll find that your perspective will change. Instead of being caught in a cycle of “down” thoughts, you’ll be on top of the situation because God’s Word will provide you with godly insights and perspectives that will change your thinking.

Pray the Word:
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus I cast down every thought and vain imagination that is contrary to the truth of Your Word. Your Word says the thoughts of the righteous are right; my purposes, plans, and thoughts are aligned with Your Word. I renew my mind daily with the Word of God and meditate on the Word of God day and night; therefore, I have good success. I am not conformed to this world but I have been transformed by the renewing of my mind. I prosper because worldly thoughts do not influence or entrap me; I do not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of the scornful. Thank you Father that Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Amen.
